This book is a great intro to the basics of sausage making. It has some very solid recipes and practical advice for a home chef. If your looking for a book with an extensive recipes, this is not it. It does have master ratios to help you follow some guide lines for your own creations. It has some great photography and a key to show you what the sausages are on the cover. The printing on this first edition seemed a little wonky as well. The cover was cupped on both side.For the price its a great addition if you collect cook books.Another books i would recommend reading is Charcuterie or Home Production of Quality Meats and Sausages.

This book got me started with sausage making, but it's also taking me to more advanced techniques. I love how it discusses the process in detail, so I know what I'm doing. It lists all quantities in volume measures (like tablespoons) and weight (grams). My only advice - get a good kitchen scale and weigh all the spices for a much more consistent result. Also, when I switched to buying whole spices from the local co-op and grinding myself in a mortar and pestle, the flavor became even better.

I love this book. Over the last few years I've smoked sausage 3 times, each time I was disappointed. After reading a lot of Marianski's Home Production of Quality Meats and Sausages, I was still disappointed. That book is a great one as well, but it's better as a reference or guide for advanced projects, whereas this one has a very detailed yet concise template about how to make sausage. After being frustrated for years, my sausage turned out great--this book wasn't some magic solution, I had been buying better equipment over time, and the little practice did help, but after having a lot of texture problems and googling how to fix them, I stumbled upon this book. The template was very easy to understand and use, even easy enough that I could synthesize the methods with those of Marianski and make some of my own decisions. Success is inspirational, and this book helped me succeed, I look forward to making a lot more sausage, including some of the beautiful recipes in this book. I think someone that wants to learn to produce smoked sausage in particular, should make cooked smoked sausage a few times with templates in this book, then get the Marianski book and learn the ins and outs of smoking, temps, and curing... and if you're really cool, building a smokehouse.

This book is filled with recipes and techniques that work! I have used this book for over a year and made at least half the recipes enclosed. As someone who had never made sausage before, it was super easy to understand the techniques and methodology explained. Over time, my technique and skill level has increased, as well as my collection of recipes and books. However, this is the book I always come back to. I get constant raves from every recipe I have made from friends and family.

I like this book a lot. My mom gave me a meat grinder with sausage attachments and I started making sausage immediately. The only thing I didn't have was an idea of what to use, ratios of meat to fat, etc. This book goes into all of that, and has some great looking recipes I'm dying to try. Sausage making is fun for my whole family. There are some great techniques in this book for making great sausage.

this was my first book on sausage making, it probably should have been 3rd. it gives good description on making sausage but the recipes are a little advanced for me. using a cure of pig skin is a little advanced for me at this time. I got "an idiot's guide for sausage making" out of the library and that seems to be my speed for now. I am looking forward to using the recipes in Mr Farrs book as they look delicious but it won't bee for a few months

The conversion charts save a ton of time, having everything done by weight and step by step instruction make it easy. My first time around I went with the simple chorizo and was very successful at the outcome.

Very basic information regarding sausage making. Was expecting some good recipes for different types of sausage to have made this book worth buying. Some strange recipes to say the least and not one that I am interested in making. Just wasted my money.

I couldn't help but laugh at the first illustration because it looked like me when I got my Cricut machine, I wish I had this troubleshooting guide then. It has answered several of my questions and helped me solve a nagging problem I had with my die cutter.Without giving away the money saving tips about do-it-yourself craft rooms, I can't wait to "build" my own.This is not a dull manual. It's written in an interesting and informative style that's easy to understand and filled with helpful tips and tricks any Cricut owner can put to good use.

My daughter has been doing some scrapbooking and has been looking at Cricut machines for some time. However, when talking to friends, she has often heard many discouraging remarks on the problems encountered using this machine. Because this has been a topic of conversation with her, I purchased this book to have more information on the subject. Now that I've read this book, I'm going to purchase one for her birthday.This book really does cover everything you've always wanted to know about the Cricut. From comparing and buying your machine, to cutting problems and solutions, to how to do your own repairs, the author has left no questions unanswered. I particularly like the many links to Cricut videos.After reading this book, I'll definitely be purchasing a Cricut machine and I'll also be purchasing this book to go along with it for my daughter.

Very disappointed. It deals with Cricut Expression; I have Cricut Explore Air. Two very different machines. The problems I was hoping to see solutions for were not dealt with in the book. I had already figured out how to solve the easy problems but the problems I encountered .were more complex. I don't have/use cartridges. The amount of information in the book devoted to them was irrelevant for me. Had I perused the book prior to buying it, I would have realized it was not what I was hoping for.

This book is a joke!!...one star expresses "I hate it".If you're looking for a book that reiterates the instructions that come with your Cricut on how to load paper, turn your machine on, change the cutting blade, etc, etc then you may be happy buying this book.......... However, since the sub-title is "HOW TO MASTER YOUR CRICUT MACHINE", I wasn't expecting the ridiculous advise to rummage through your junk drawers looking for embellishments, to shop at garage sales for used cartridges, to make custom cards for family/friends, to frequent junk stores for supplies, etc etc.......A waste of time and money!!...Boo!

I have had and been using my Cricut for over 6 years and found some great information in this book. The author gave great advice on many issues that the beginner and well seasoned craft can and will use, worth the buy and read.

This book is loaded with tons of great tips. Very helpful for new Cricut owners along with long existing owners. Love all the extra troubleshooting tips. Very well done.

I thought it would lead into tips for the new Cricut Explore Air, but it didn't. Otherwise, it would be helpful if you're a new user to the previous models.

This book is a good reference guide and has excellent time saving tips. Not many good books out there on this topic so i really do appreciate the step by step guide, thorough explanations and easy access. I'm very happy i got this book and didn't waste anymore time on troubleshooting my cricut machine. Recommended~!

Why haven't I heard of him before?This is a case where one needs to trust the author. The first chapter, on the history of the subjugation and cruel and systematic abuse of the Irish by the British, is a marvel of compressed history. There is not a paragraph that isn't fascinating, while the book lays out the world into which Meagher was born. While many of the priests who were his teachers and his parents cautioned patience in the face of British occupation - which meant lesser British lords living on lands that had previously belonged to the Irish who eked out lives in enforced poverty, Meagher constantly asked why the Irish put up with it. And it is his refusal to tolerate what he saw as injustice that drove his life.Every section of this book details a new chapter in Meagher's life, which also happens to be a chapter in the life of the place in which he lives. After first showing his resistance to English rule and his violent opposition to it, we see him in the United States, where the almost equally vexing treatment of the Irish by American immigrants who had established themselves in the country a bit earlier than these Irish newcomers. Egan's attempt to gain respect comes together with his repudiation of Southern slavery is the book's longest section - and the one that will be of the greatest general interest (if one of my other friends asks, I'll simply tell them that it is a book on one of the Civil War's most colorful military leaders) - tells of Meagher's not insubstantial role in the American Civil War, where he became commander of the famed Irish Brigade, which brought a degree of respect and acceptance they had not achieved before. Not that all Americans accepted the Irish overnight, but American's have always respected its war heroes, and now there were Irish ones.The final chapter of Meagher's life shows him and his wife going to North Dakota - which was far wilder and more rustic than when Teddy Roosevelt visited it a couple of decades later - as governor of the area. If one sees Meagher as a Quixote, always tilting against windmills, the vigilantism in the territory was more than he could oppose, and it might possibly have led to his mysterious death only a couple of years after the end of the Civil War. The book begins with the event. Meagher on the deck of a paddle boat at the head waters of the Missouri. He falls off the deck of the boat ad drowns. It is a mystery that has never been solved, though Egan takes a gallant and fairly convincing stab at resolving it.But the sheer scope of the story of Meagher, who was renowned for his ability to sway his fellows and in a land where great oratory made people the equivalent of today's rock stars (albeit, without the sex, drugs, or rock and roll, though with all the fame, celebrity, and packed houses where they spoke), is truly epic. Meagher stood out as one of the great public speakers of the age, and his heroism on the battlefield makes him a major, if peripheral figure in that conflict. But the genius of this books is how much it makes us understand so many things. The Irish Question. Resistance to English rule. Migration to America. The abuse of the Irish in the United States. The reasons why many went to war against the South. The Question of Slavery. The Civil War itself, along with many of its greatest battles. The end of the War. Western expansion. And we finally learn just how wild the wild west could be. All these aspects of Irish and American life are masterfully told, in a prose that carries us easily from one page to the next.If you read this book, it is possible that you will read a better one in the coming year. Possible, but not likely. I doubt that the book will garner Mr. Egan another National Book Award. Members of the award committee are apt to react as I did when I first had the opportunity to read this: Thomas Francis who? But while the book most definitely tells the story of one of the great Irish and Irish-American political activists, it also tells the stories of Ireland and America itself, and reveals things about both countries that most readers - and certainly this reader - had not previously known or understood. This is very likely going to stand as one of my favorite books of 2016 and I could, I would rush up to you in person and say straight to your face, "You must read this book." So do it.

I got this book on the recommendation of my mother; who ultimately wants to read it. I had no familiarity with Thomas Meagher, but the story, written by Egan is an easy read and very fluid. The first quarter of the book focuses on Meagher and his role in seeking to enlist people in the Irish Confederation. Egan does a really good job of discussing the oratory style of Meagher, in particular his accent, arousing speeches to the people, especially against the context of famine that was decimating the population.There are also really pleasant historical sidebars (not really a sidebar, but inclusion in the story?) of other particulars, such as the out migration of the Irish to Australia and Canada, elements that were supported by the British Crown. The death toll of the emigrants to the U.S., almost 1 in 5, is a staggering number that is seldom discussed. There is also background information regarding others as well throughout the story, giving insight into those who worked in the Irish Confederation, and throughout New York at various times.Meagher’s trip to Tasmania is also discussed, which, I had always been curious about the length of time it would take to get that far away to the penal colony (120 days). Perhaps there is a bit of irony in that the transport actually fed them and they wore no shackles. The time in Tasmania actually seems a bit like a resort, even if it was away from their homeland of Ireland. Overall, there are some political elements from the Civil War that are often excluded that are brought into the picture. The drafting of the Irish, and the ensuing riots that lashed out at African Americans are also another historical element that are seldom discussed or addressed.The Civil War portion takes up the largest chunk of the book, but Meagher’s time in Montana is discussed for about 50-60 pages. During this time Meagher found himself at odds with vigilantes who were opposed to his authority, which was 2nd highest office in Montana, as a commission from Johnson. Meagher worked to continue to instill law in Montana, even at a time when it was pretty minimally populated and had a high leaning towards an old west type of rule.Overall, the book is really good, a quick read, and portrays the situation realistic with outside information into the stories of the time that are often overlooked. I’d really recommend it, and it gives a new insight into the Civil War, especially as it addresses internal conflict within the Union and between various groups.

Eric W. Noreen has taught at INSEAD in France and the Hong Kong Institute of Science and Technology and is emeritus professor of accounting at the University of Washington. Man, how I initially hated this course. However, the textbook is very clear and offers good examples. I also recommend signing up for the online component (as our instructor required) because the additional practice and reference materials are actually helpful. If you're need a textbook to teach yourself accounting or to teach others, I think you do a self-guided course with this book.Downside, it's freaking huge and quite heavy. Not bookbag friendly. There are versions that are sold as binder sheets so you could just take the evening's assigned chapters to class.

I used this book for 2 accounting classes and as a reference for 2 others. It's well laid out, though wordy at times, and provides clear examples to follow, though I think it helps to have some accounting background (like a basic college accounting class) to get the most out of it. In fact, I like this textbook so much I finally just bought a used copy. Since I don't perform all the duties of an accountant every day, I use this a reference and resource book. I highly recommend this book for anyone who needs to a reference or a refresher for accounting practices (even my accounting professor keeps an extra copy in her business office for that purpose).

Great book! I am still in my managerial accounting class and find this book easy to guide students in understanding how important managerial accounting is in business. The supplemental guide WyleyPlus is highly recommended and compliments this book well! Will help students, who are not accounting experts, the guidance needed in understanding the course you are taking. Equations are easy to follow and there are tons of problems and examples to help a student through the chapters.

This was the textbook for my first-ever accounting class, and it surely did not disappoint. The chapters may be long and detailed, but they're easy to understand. There are plenty of charts and other visuals to help you understand the concepts more easily. And, there are plenty of exercises of all types at the end of each chapter, as well as exercise materials in the middle of chapters so you can instantly review and apply what you've just learned. The professor I had for my Principles of Accounting class was really great on his own, and this book was a great supplement, as reading the material independently helps me process it more easily.This is the Oakton Community College version of the book. I haven't seen other versions of this textbook before, so let me just summarize what the Oakton version looks like, in case it will work for you. The definitions for key terms are not at the end of the book, but rather at the end of every chapter. Managerial Accounting for Managers by Noreen, Brewer and Garrison is a completely engaging text book. This book takes you on a journey through Managerial Accounting (which is substantially different from financial accounting). Noreen has crafted a book which shines from the ranks of other dusty texts.One would have a difficult time reviewing this text without the mind being drawn to other books on the same subject. By comparison, Managerial Accounting for Managers is a wholly interesting story which conveys its meaning by involving the reader. Other text books are simply left behind in a heap of dry and dusty factoids. While previous texts on the same subject have presented the facts of Managerial Accounting, Noreen, Brewer and Garrison have woven this same topical information into an exciting narrative.I could go on and on at whatever length desired about the positive aspects of this book. You will enjoy it immensely as it provides not only teaching, not only entertainment, but a transporting experience to a higher plane.

If you're looking at this as a student, you probably have no choice. You have to buy this book or something very similar to pass your class. If you will have problem sets from the book, you have to have the latest edition because those problems change enough that they are able to force you to buy the latest edition.If you are a developer of a curriculum for accounting, this is a passable book. As was the prior edition, a passable book. Do the right thing for your students who might be paying as much for books now as they are for tuition -- use the earliest edition possible. How many FASB changes have there really been that are applicable in the intro classes.If you are a teacher with no choice in the assigned books, this is as fine a book as others, so don't you worry, You can get away with using your notes from other author's books.
